Civilizational and sociocultural aspects of multiethnic regions’ modernization in the Russian Federation

This article examines the problems of modernization in the Russian Federation regions with a specific sociocultural development: Eastern Siberia belonging to the nomadic civilization of the Innermost Asia, and highlanders of the North Caucasus representing another cultural code. The authors analyze the main socio-economic showings, living standards, interaction between regional authorities and society, religious culture - all those aspects which are in the basis of the social modernization. The paper also discusses the main obstacles of the modernization process in these regions and the ways of overcoming them.
