In this work the author had the task to consider the basic colors in the works of M.A Bulgakov - white, red, black, grey - systematically in their symbolic function. The conducted analysis showed that color and light images are of a significant importance in the works of Bulgakov. Figuratively speaking, each color in Bulgakov's works sort of bears the reflexion of the «opposite», contrast color. All basic colors in his works are ambivalent, therefore it is relevant to speak about the notation of not single colors, bur color combinations.
