The main vehicle for the Soviet government's youth policy was the All-Union Leninist Young Communist League (Komsomol), which, along with the All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks), developed and implemented its major thrusts. As a consequence, the goals and objectives of the country's domestic policies at various stages of its development have made certain adjustments to the content of State youth policy. Based on archival material, the paper examines the situation of the Far Eastern Komsomol organisations in the second half of the 1930s, which represents a definite contribution to the study of the problem of government and society at the regional level. In the context of political repression, the Komsomol was assigned the role of an active assistant to the Soviet authorities. During this period, priority in the work of the Komsomol was declared to increase class vigilance and purify the organization from enemies of the people. A widespread internal investigation of Komsomol organizations led to mass expulsions from the All-Union Leninist Young Communist League (“Komsomol”), including in the Far East. The purge of the Far Eastern Komsomol affected both rank-and-file members and the leadership of the region, playing its part in the final phase of the power struggle of the late 1930s.
