Activities of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR on the protection of monuments of culture

The article provides information on the set of documents stored in the Archives of the Russian Academy of Sciences on the activities of the Scientific and Methodological Council for the Protection of Cultural Monuments under the Presidium of the USSR Academy of Sciences in 1949-1955. The Council made a significant contribution to uniting the efforts of departments and organizations of the country in the complex of work on the registration, protection and restoration of cultural monuments on the territory of the USSR, which was especially important during the years of the restoration of the national economy after the devastating Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.
