The activities of urban public administration of Trans-Baikal in the healthcare sphere in the late XIX -early XX centuries

This article analyzes the activities of urban public administration in the healthcare sphere in the late XIX -early XX centuries. On the basis of unpublished archival sources and statistical reports, the author examines the areas of public healthcare development in the cities of Trans-Baikal region, where healthcare issue hadn't been resolved for a long time. With the introduction of the City Regulation in 1870 the situation in the cities began to change, the number of medical institutions and physicians increased, the quality of health care improved gradually.
