Princess Elena Petrovna's activity to provide assistance to Serbian population having suffered from military actions (1914-1916)

The article presents the main directions of charitable activity of Princess Elena Petrovna, the daughter of Serbian king, to the assistance to Serbian population that suffered from military actions (1914-1916). During the World War I Princess Elena Petrovna took under her protection a variety of Slavonic and charity organizations providing them with an effective assistance. For example, she helped the Serbian committee in Petrograd to start fundraising and to resolve problems with humanitarian cargos delivery. In Marble Palace Princess Elena Petrovna organized the storage for charity, the Serbian department provided assistance to Serbian refugees and war prisoners as well. During the World War I Russian and Slavonic charity organizations underwent serious pecuniary burdens. The need of assistance of imperial family member was growing. Princess Elena Petrovna started gradually consolidating the aid to Serbia. This tendency developed in creating in 1916 of Saint Sava Patronage in Moscow.
