Activities of the defense committee of the city Kropotkin after the expulsion of the occupational troops (march – december 1943)

The article is devoted to the activities of the Kropotkin City Defense Com-mittee in 1943. The powers of the city committee, approved by the State Defense Committee of the USSR in March 1943, also extended to the territory of the entire Kropotkin (then Kavkazsky) district. The daily work of the committee, first of all, was aimed at providing a set of measures to counter the raids of German bomber aircraft. Providing first aid for medical and sanitary support of the population in the event of such bombing, intensifying the fight against desertion, etc. One of the main goals of the committee was to focus on organizing, coordinating and monitoring the defensive work being carried out – the construction of air defense gaps and gas shelters, the con-struction of basement shelters, organizing the activities of services at defense facilities, their protection, coordinating the work of local air defense services and military units, etc. The article reveals the nature of the activities of the Defense Committee itself in its interaction with local authorities, the headquarters of the local air defense forces, and the facilities of the Caucasian railway junction during the preparation and elimina-tion of the consequences of enemy air raids.
