Credit institutions’ activities in Ekaterinodar in the second half of the 19th - early 20th centuries

The study discusses the credit institutions established in Ekaterinodar in the post-reform period and their functioning in the late 19th - early 20th centuries. The author emphasizes the importance of the transformation of Ekaterinodar into a civil city which has turned out to be a leap forward in its economic development. The research analyzed the activities of various credit institutions from the industry organizations that gave its members a loan for the development up to the largest banks operating in the city. The focus is on organizations that have contributed to the growth of small and medium-sized businesses such as the Ekaterinodar Exchange Committee, the Kuban Society for the Promotion of Small-Scale Credit Institutions and others. The author reveals the legal aspects of the credit institutions foundation in Russia and Kuban region and analyzes quantitative indicators reflecting their activities in the period under review.
