Work of law-enforcement agencies of Tatarstan in the Great Patriotic War

Introduction: the article discusses work of law-enforcement agencies of Tatarstan during the Great Patriotic War 1941 - 1945. Materials and Methods: publications on the history of divisions and Services of MIA of the Republic of Tatarstan, archives of the Republic of Tatarstan; memories; periodicals. General methods of historical research - chronological, historical and genetic, historical and comparative; special historiographical methods for source validation. Results: information on the activities of the organs of internal affairs of Tatarstan during the Great Patriotic War is systematized; main activities, specific functions of the police are described; conditions of service of employees in wartime conditions. Discussion and Conclusions: internal affairs bodies of Tatarstan sent around 500 employees on the frontline. The bodies immediately reorganized their activities: they performed additional functions assigned to them, recruited women and police veterans; mobilized forces to fight crime.
