The activities of the soviet enterprises for the production of armored trains in 1941-1945

The article is based on documents from the Russian state archive of economy, the Central archive of the Ministry of Defence, and the existing literature. It considers the problem of construction of armored trains for the Red Army during the Great Patriotic war. The author reveals the facts connected with organization of production of armored trains despite the absence of required personnel, materials, and equipment. He also examines the interaction between People’s Commissariat of Defense and the different People’s Commissariats of industry, and the role of individual managers in the organization of production of armored trains. Provides information on the development of new models of armored trains of their design features.
