Activity of Nestor (Anisimov), the East-Asian exarch

In the article on the basis of the documents of the Russian Federation State Archives the image of the most famous Orthodox Exarch Nestor is reconstituted. In different periods of his life he was the bishop of East-Asian Exarchate, the metropolitan of Novosibirsk and Barnaul, Kirovograd and Nikolaev. The peculiarities of scientific and popular science works containing data on Nestor's biography and life profile have been analyzed. The author’s assumption of the positive Exarch’s image in national literature is the background of the research. The author introduces some previously unknown documents into scientific use. An attempt has been made to define the role of Nestor (Anisimov) in the history of the Chinese Orthodoxy taking into consideration the assessment of the situation, concerning on the whole the development of Orthodoxy in China in the second half of the XXth century. The main conclusion is the opinion on inconsistency of Nestor's personality as the Orthodox representative. This conclusion has been made on the basis of the archives documents study.
