The political events that took place in the Chechen-Ingushetia in the late 1980s - early 1990s reasonably attract the attention of not only experts, but the broad academic community. Apparently, this can be explained by the fact that in the 1990s the Republic suffered from the grave crisis, the effects of which were tragic for the whole multinational Russian state. The passing of the Declaration of State Sovereignty of the Chechen-Ingush Republic is the milestone that clearly outlined the deep political split that occurred in the Republic. The article dwells upon these complex processes.
