The article studies documents deposited in funds of the Russian State Historical Archive of the Far East (Vladivostok city), which reflect the process of projecting and approval of the coats of arms for the Far Eastern towns (of the Primorye, Amur, Trans-Baikal, Kamchatka, Kvantun regions). The author considers activities of the local administrative bodies on this issue and the local processes on the development of the heraldic symbols.
