The article is devoted to the consideration of the causes of depopulation processes in Europe identified during the analysis of statistical data on demographic processes on the European continent. The analysis area includes not only EU and Eurozone countries, but also countries that are members of the European Free Trade Association. Statistical information was analyzed according to the following indicators: fertility, immigration, emigration, abortion, reproductive attitudes of young people. The analysis of the data of the Eurostat in the period from 2007 to 2018 showed that with rare exceptions of a minimal increase in the birth rate, all the countries of the European continent are in the zone of serious depopulation processes associated with the economic crisis, features of migration and family policies. The findings can be used to adjust the demographic, migration and family policies of Russia.
