Demographic processes in the context of Islamism

The article shows the role of demographic aspect of the "Islamic factor" in the life of the Russian and world community, which emphasizes the importance of studying political parties in Islam. The 20th century was marked by emergence of non-fundamentalist forms of the political Islam based on the idea of "Islamic state" - Sunnism and Shiism. The author considers the political concepts of both parties and claims that there is no principal difference between them. He also states that at the moment neither of them is strong enough to challenge the West openly.
