Democracy due to Venezuela

The research examines the notion of democracy from the legal and political viewpoints, namely through the prism of the last Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela of 1999. The paper emphasizes that Venezuela is a country with a representative social democracy; its basic principles are guaranteed rights and freedoms, active civic participation, material equality of the population, well-developed state apparatus along with the overall welfare of residents. Having analyzed the Constitution of the country, the author concludes that civic participation is the basis of its democratic regime. Besides, the researcher notes that, in practical terms, Venezuelan democratic regime needs to be modernized and proposes the solutions to overcome the national crisis as well as possible methods for expanding democracy in the country.
