The purpose of the study is to analyze, based on the materials of the Krasnoyarsk Region, to what extent in the period 1955-1965 Soviet planning authorities managed to achieve an increase in the standard of living of the population, and in particular, an increase in the incomes of Soviet citizens and a decent level of consumption. The issues related to monetary incomes and expenditures of the population of the Krasnoyarsk Region in the period of the transformations of N.S. Khrushchev. Previously unpublished archival materials stored in the State Archives of the Krasnoyarsk Region are being put into circulation. The results of the analysis of the balance of income and expenditure of the population of the Krasnoyarsk Region from 1955 to 1965 are presented. Comparison of the dynamics of growth of incomes and expenditures of the population shows that, despite an almost twofold increase in the income of the population, its expenditures also increased accordingly. At the same time, there is an increase in the discrepancy between the expenditure and income part of the budgets of the population of the Krasnoyarsk Region. This suggests that the ability to consume did not keep pace with the rise in income. The population had nothing to spend extra money on, since they could not find many goods in stores. For these reasons, the number of transfers to relatives and parents grew. At the same time, residents of Krasnoyarsk start to save savings. Based on the study, we can conclude that a twofold increase in income does not indicate the same increase in the standard of living of the population. But, despite this, the standard of living of the population of the Krasnoyarsk Region increased. In addition to the level of income, consumption, it was influenced by other factors, such as the quality of housing, food, affordability and range of services.
