Financial Resources of the Parish Church: Revenues and Expenditures of the Georgievskaya Church in 1845–1917 (Gdov Uyezd, Saint Petersburg Diocese)

The article explores the financial resources of a rural parish church based on parish ledger entries. The well-preserved sources in the collection of the Georgievskaya Church in Lozhgolovo at the Central State Historical Archive of St. Petersburg allow for a study of the 70-year period of financial activities of this church (1845–1917). The article examines the methods of forming the church’s revenues, expenditure items, mandatory contributions, charitable collections for church and state needs, and analyzes the impact of church reforms in the 1860s and 1870s on the material well-being of the parish church.
