The article implements an alternative approach to analysis of the consumer characteristics of poverty in the Kemerovo Region. The approach basis is the poverty assessment by deprivations of the basic social necessities in the modern Russian conditions. The author considers influence of the social and demographic factors in the settlements of the certain type on the specific features of the deprivation spread in the region.
