Desacralization of Russian provincial space during the process of developing travel industry in the latter half of the 19th -early 20th centuries

In the post-reform era in Russia domestic tourism started to form and develop, this process was accompanied with reinterpretation of social phenomena of that time, particularly, there transformed the ways of representation sacred objects and forms of interaction with them: thus, the sacred places were turned into sightseeing. Basing upon the provincial guide-books of the latter half of the 19 th - early 20 th centuries the author carries out a research of bringing the objects of religion into mass culture services.
