Destructiveness and Temporal Focus of Personality

Temporal orientation as a reflection of personality temporality is expressed in various behavioral manifestations, including destructive ones. The purpose of the study is to identify and describe the interrelation between the parameters of time orientation (to the past, present and / or future) with the components of destructive behavior. The hypothesis was tested about the interrelation between the features of time orientation to the past, present and future with the components of personality destructiveness, as well as their expressions in subjects with different destructive orientation (destructors, suicides, self-destructors and normative one’s). Materials and methods: the respondents were 30 men and 50 women, representatives of socionomic professions. The author's diagnostic methods were used: the questionnaire «SCD-2024» (Alexander V. Smirnov), which allows identifying the types of destructiveness and «Subjective assessment of time orientation» (Sergey V. Dukhnovsky). It has been established, that mental states and personality-psychological characteristics can be determined by temporal orientation. It has been shown that personal dispositions with a negative connotation are also associated with negative manifestations of temporal orientation - rigid fixation on the past or the future with a breakaway from reality. It has been established that the combination of temporal orientation and personal dispositions allows us to reveal a temporal conflict and its psychological manifestations, the strength and form of which are determined by how a person directs the destructive potential of the conflict - socializes or sublimates it («Normative»), directs it against himself («Self-destructors» and «Suicides»), destroys culture and the social environment («Destructors» and «Suicides»).
