Thermal and cold neutron detectors

The I.M. Frank Neutron Physics Laboratory of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research is one of the leading neutron research centers in Russia. As part of the work on the modernization of detector systems, a review of the main types of thermal and cold neutron detectors used on the spectrometers of the IBR-2 reactor was carried out. The features of the work and disadvantages of modern detector systems are revealed, on the basis of which a promising alternative was presented, devoid of the disadvantages of existing systems.
