Determination of narcissismin personal psychological space organization

The article is devoted to the problem of personal psychological space and its boundaries with the account of influence of the modern epoch, which, according to H-G. Gadamer, causes a «mass man», constantly demonstrating a spiritual struggle between the tendency to the triumph of conformism and desire to have an narcissistic respectability of the self-image. It is stressed that the combination of these two tendencies – to be «like everyone» and, therefore, able to follow the normative behaviour and at the same time to be «different», dissimilar from the others, creates a big problem for the modern man. The aim of the article is to present the organization of psychological space as the universal dialectical spiral, linking two fundamental dimensions of the development of the individual - integration of «self-determination» and «fusion to other people» with the account of personal narcissist manifestations. It is emphasized that personal narcissistic manifestations determine the existence of Ego-boundaries forms and organization of psychological space, which can constructive (focusing on personal adaptation and Ego-development), or non-constructive (aimed mainly at accommodation to the environment and regression in Ego-development). In conclusion, the author notes that at the basis of the constructive organization of psychological space is optimal personal ability to «be authentic» and at the same time to be «in the world» together with other people, which fully characterizes the position of the individual as the creator of its life. The basis of non-constructive organization of psychological space reflects the immature motivational sphere, narcissistic or conformistic tendency of the person.
