Child mortality in the Volgograd region

The paper analyses the trens, and the causes of child mortality in the Volgograd region in the period of 2006-2008 and reveals its sociomedical importance. The leading factors of changes in child mortality are established to be socioeconomic shifts occurring in Russia and the major problem of child mortality is mortality of infants in their first year of life. The main directions of activities in demographic policy of pediatric health care are outlined.
