Children’s Buryat-Russian bilingualism: dynamics of sociolinguistic changes

The article presents the results of a sociological survey of the state of the Buryat language conducted among preschool and school-age children of the Republic of Buryatia in 2021. We have compared its results with previous surveys, carried out in 2000. Particular attention is paid to the recognition of the native language by students of secondary schools, their language competence, areas of use of the Buryat language, the effectiveness of its teaching at school, value and language attitudes, as well as emotional and evaluative language characteristics. In general, we observe the deterioration of the language situation in the children's language environment.
