Childhood and youth of Razumnik V. Ivanov-Razumnik (1878-1905)

This article is devoted to the childhood and adolescence of literary critic and writer Razumnik Vasilyevich Ivanov-Razumnik (1878-1946). The authors focus on the origins, upbringing, and education of Ivanov-Razumnik. The paper is based on previously unknown archival materials from the Central Historical Archive of Saint-Petersburg and the Manuscript Department of Pushkin House of Russian Academy of Sciences. The authors concentrate on the poorly known moments of the biography of Ivanov-Razumnik, such as education in the Petrograd first gymnasium and Petrograd Imperial University. They also touch the problem of Ivanov-Razumnik’s participation in social activities during his student years, and draw the conclusions about the influence of the environment and the circumstances to the formation of the personality of the future literary critic.
