Diagnostic tools for identifying the readiness of servicemen (cadets) for military professional self-education

The problem of professional and personal development of servicemen undergoing training in training military units under the initial training program is considered. The learning process in training military units is distinguished by its organization based on immersion in military professional activity and extreme dynamism. A resource for ensuring the quality of education is the self-education of cadets. One of the tasks of training military units is to create such conditions under which cadets will be able not only to master the training program, but also to show readiness for military-professional self-education. Based on the analysis of the essence of the concepts of “self-education”, “professional self-education”, a definition of military professional self-education is proposed as a specially organized process of self-acquisition of knowledge necessary for the conscious satisfaction of cognitive interests and requests arising from the comprehension of personal experience of military professional activity. The readiness of cadets for military-professional self-education is characterized. This is an integrative personal characteristic, which includes motivational-value, cognitive, activity, reflexive components and manifests itself in general as the ability of a serviceman to independently develop personally and professionally significant qualities and competencies in the educational space of an educational institution. Methods for diagnosing the readiness of cadets for military-professional self-education are substantiated, and the features of the interpretation of the results obtained are described.
