Introduction: the article discusses the results of the diagnosis of the dominant mental states of convicted women in detention in places of detention with young children. Purpose: to study the dominant mental states of convicted women held in places of detention with young children, to consider the possibilities of their psychological correction. Methods: analysis of scientific sources, diagnostics (testing), methods of mathematical statistics (Mann-Whitney U-test). To assess the dominant state of a convicted woman with young children, the method of "Determining the dominant state" (L.V. Kulikov) was used. The questionnaire made it possible to study the dominant mental states of the convicted women, characteristic of their current life situation. Results: in the course of an empirical study conducted by On the basis of correctional institutions of the penal system, it has been established that convicted women held in correctional institutions with young children are dominated by negatively colored mental states: pessimism, despondency, depressed mood, sadness, disappointment, lethargy, fatigue, frustration, tension, anxiety and irritability. Based on the identified features of the dominant mental states of the convicted women, the directions of psychological correction of the dominant mental states are determined. Conclusions: convicted women with young children are characterized by pronounced negative mental states that affect their overall physical well-being and behavior. Based on the results of the study, the directions of psychological correction were identified, which will help to stabilize the mental states of convicted women.
