Resume: Acute pancreatitis is a fairly rare pathology in childhood. The correct diagnosis for acute pancreatitis is made by primary care physicians in only 19.6% of patients. Pancreatitis in childhood is polietiologic. The causes of acute pancreatitis in children are quite often trauma to the pancreas, alimentary factor (violation of the diet), and medicinal effects. Acute destructive pancreatitis is a severe purulent-septic disease. The general mortality rate in acute pancreatitis in childhood is 2.1%, and in destructive forms of pathology it is much higher - from 6.7 to 50%. The diagnosis and treatment of acute destructive pancreatitis in children presents certain difficulties. It is important to use in the therapeutic and diagnostic process such methods as computed tomography (CT), procalcitonin test (PCT), diagnostic and therapeutic laparoscopy, as well as the use of modern protease inhibitors (sandostatin) and extracorporeal detoxification in complex treatment.
