Dialogue of Russian and other folks cultures in the Tomsk province periodical press (late XIX - early XX century)

The article highlights the issue of interaction of Russian and other folks cultures represented in newspapers and magazines of pre-revolutionary Tomsk province. Study identifies thematic and genre dynamics, which can be traced from the first Tomsk official newspaper «Tomsk province news» and «Tomsk Diocesan Gazette» to private newspapers and magazines of Tomsk and Barnaul: from lighting of ethnographic peculiarities of the local population, journalists come to the idea of spiritual value of other folks culture and the importance of capturing and saving it. «Tomsk province news» laid the foundation for the development of the theme of intercultural dialogue through publications to local ethnographers, missionaries and travelers. The newspaper found a place for controversy demonstrates the interest of the authors of the exact transmission of characteristics of other folks` culture. The tradition of «literary journey» over Siberia was carried in the newspaper «Tomsk Diocesan Gazette», especially in the travel notes of Siberian missionaries. For example, publications in the private newspaper «Siberian newspaper» and «Siberian Life» the author explores the techniques of lighting theme of intercultural interaction, different approaches related to trust units of periodicals. On materials of authors of the «Siberian newspaper» attention to the spiritual life and religious beliefs of the inhabitants of Siberia, has opened a whole layer of the pre-Christian culture, historically significant and valuable for its originality. This corresponded to educational settings of editions. The leading newspaper in Tomsk in early XX century «Siberian Life», carried the transition to a new level of development of the topic of intercultural communication by organizing in 1909 an event called «Siberian evening» In Tomsk citizens were able to see performances of the indigenous inhabitants of Siberia and the Russian immigrants. Newspaper detailed coverage of the preparation and conduct of the evening, focusing on a real dialogue of cultures. The development of the theme of intercultural interaction in Barnaul papers considered by the example of publications devoted to ethnic traditions and relations with the Russian population. Author of the study comes to the conclusion that the material of Tomsk periodicals testifies to increased interest of journalists to the problem of cross-cultural interaction of other folks and Russian population. This interest was manifested in the publications devoted to beliefs, folklore, cultural traditions, and rites as the indigenous inhabitants of Siberia and the Russian immigrants, and Russian old-timers. The main genres are allowed to cover this particular subject were: essays (ethnographic, cultural, etc.), travel and road notes, analytical articles on the analysis of samples of local folklore. Using the attention of readers to the subject of shamanism pre-revolutionary journalists paid attention to the public on the need for deeper study of cultural phenomena, respect for the originality of other folks` beliefs. Publications about the culture of the local other folks and Russian population in periodicals in the Tomsk province contributed to the development of regional identity, raised the level of understanding and acceptance of each other Siberian representatives of different communities.
