To ensure food security in Russia, it is necessary to develop sustainable agricultural production, raw materials and foodstuffs. The regions of Russia are characterized by a significant differentiation of climatic and socioeconomic conditions for the economy and residence of the population. The Far East is the largest macroregion of Russia, borders on the intensively developing countries of the Azait-Pacific region and has strategic geopolitical and socioeconomic importance. The agrarian sector produces agricultural products necessary for the entire population and provides a living environment in rural areas. The development of the agrarian sector is greatly influenced by natural and climatic factors that predetermine the parameters of consumption and the possibility of food production in the regions. The purpose of this study is to differentiate the Far Eastern regions in terms of the level of food self-sufficiency based on an assessment of natural conditions. To achieve this goal, the following tasks were solved: the institutional structure of the food supply system in the region was characterized; the regions of the Far Eastern Federal District were grouped according to their bioclimatic potential; the provision of agricultural land for the residents of the Far Eastern Federal District and Russia was revealed the trends in the production and consumption of food products in the regions are shown and the main ways to increase the level of food supply are identified. The research was carried out using inductive, deductive methods of cognition, traditional methods of economic analysis: comparison; groupings; calculating absolute, relative and average values; tabular and graphical method of processing statistical data. The study clarifies the methodology of differentiating regions by bioclimatic potential and ranking regions by the provision of residents with land. Based on the research results, priority measures were proposed to increase the level of food supply for the regions. The research materials can be used in the development of agricultural and food policy measures in the regions of the Far East.
