Dynamics chromosomal aberrations and micronuclei in lymphocytes of patients with malignant neoplasms in neutron therapy

The frequency and spectrum of chromosomal aberrations and micronuclei in lymphocytes of peripheral blood in therapy using fast neutrons were examined in patients with malignant neoplasms of parotid salivary glands. The mutagenic effect of neutron therapy formed, mainly, due radiation induced chromosomal aberrations was recorded for the first time. Statistically significant increase of frequency of aberrant metaphases, chromosomal aberrations, pair fragments and total number of micronuclei in the course of treatment raises a question of possibility to use the results of cytogenetic indices for bioindication of radical load in neutron therapy.
