In a study based on materials from the 1959 and 1979 censuses an analysis of changes in the population dynamics of the settlement of Divnogorsk in the years under review was carried out. The city of Divnogorsk arose from the need for economic development of the Krasnoyarsk Region. In the context of the next wave of industrial modernization, more complete use of the region’s rich resources was possible only with the availability of cheap electricity. The answer to this need was the construction of the Krasnoyarsk hydroelectric power station, and the answer to its need for workers was the construction of a new city. As of 1959, Divnogorsk was perceived as a future city, but during the census it was still an urban-type settlement, part of the Kirovsky district of the city of Krasnoyarsk. Its population according to the census results was very young, with a slight advantage in favor of men. However, this is not surprising, given that at that moment Divnogorsk was a settlement of builders, so the fact that the number of women was smaller, but not by much, proved the perception of the authorities of this settlement as a future full-fledged city. In 1963, Divnogorsk received the status of a city, and as the 1979 census showed, its structure already corresponded to it. The city continued to remain young, but the disparities in age groups smoothed out somewhat, and the female population increased.
