Dynamics of defoliation of the Asian white birch (Betula platyphylla sukacz) in the Khingan nature reserve

Both the integral and visual methods have been used to study the Asian White Birch (Betula platyphylla) defoliation dynamics in the Khingan state nature reserve. The autumn defoliation of the birch begins in the middle of August. Mass defoliation is registered in the end of September. Defoliation is usually over in early October. Defoliation have one, two ore three periods of intensification dependent on the year. In most cases the curve describing the process has two peaks.
