Dynamics of the mythological concept «giant» (on English folk tales)

The paper deals with the mythological concept «giant» as a dynamic unit accumulating a wide range of mythological ideas of the universe. Dynamics, changeability of the mythological concept in the national concept sphere is manifested in its acquisition of attributes reflecting socially significant characteristics of corresponding referents of imaginary reality. Non-mythological attributes in question co-exist with mythological attributes gradually replacing them in the peripheral sphere of the concept.
