The article analyzes the size, dynamics and nature of changes in regional birth rates on the example of the socio-economic system of the Udmurt Republic. The reasons that affect the birth rate in the region are considered. Mathematical functions of distribution of births by the age of the mother and by the order of birth of children are constructed. Factors affecting the reduction of infant mortality are analyzed. It was found that significantly decreasing infant mortality contributes to the increase in birth rates. The effectiveness of the maternity capital program in the socio-economic system of the region is evaluated. The main directions of using maternity capital are defined. It is established that the dynamics of birth rates in the Udmurt Republic reflects the demographic processes taking place in the country as a whole. The trends in fertility rates present in the region will further contribute to the stabilization of the population at a lower level.
