The conceptual dynamics of the right of peoples to self-determination: a historical and conflict analysis

The research reveals the potential for conflict in the political implementation of the right to self-determination in historical dynamics. The author uses a historical and conflict analysis which is understood as the study on the conflict potential of any phenomenon in the historical development of this phenomenon. Such an analysis can be carried out in various forms, including by identifying and comparing views on the phenomenon in different historical eras. The research clarifies the first period of changes in the principle of the right to self-determination. The author concludes that there has been a high potential for conflict in attempts to implement the right under review throughout its existence. At the same time, the concept has significantly changed, and it keeps changing. The main direction of changes was to further develop the notion of the right to self-determination. However, it has not become a universal right to date.
