214 healthy male children at the age of 7-15 years and also 39 children of the same age with 3-12 cm growth retardation of one of the lower limbs have been examined before and after surgical leg lengthening according to the Ilizarov method using dynamometric stands of original design. The authors describe the age-related dynamics of the maximum moment of the force of muscles - dorsal and plantar flexors of the foot, correlated with body mass (relative moment of force). The dynamometric parameters of muscles (plantar foot flexors) for the healthy subjects examined and for patients' intact limb are practically the same and they increase with age to 1,76 H*m/kg, while those for patients' involved limb - to 1,3 H*m/kg only. The moment of muscle force after surgical limb lengthening recovers to 0,9 H*m/kg.
