The concept of golden horde’s civilization in contemporary historiography

The article is devoted to the theoretical and methodological foundations of the Golden Horde's study in contemporary historiography. Examined are the origin and the correlation of the Golden Horde's traditional titles: the Ulug Ulus, the Ulus of Jochi, the Descht-i Kipchac, the Golden Horde. Special emphasis is laid on the application of civilization approach in the study of the Golden Horde. A detailed analysis of achievements and criticism of this approach is given.
