The article examines the issues of goal setting in criminal proceedings of the Russian Federation, provides the relationship between the concepts of «purpose» and «goal» of criminal proceedings. The author analyzes the problems of assignment in the context of its inherent dichotomy, and also proposes to consider the purpose of criminal proceedings in the context of resolving a criminal legal conflict.
