Remote theft as a constantly changing type of crime

The progress of digital technologies, ensuring the speed of transactions, also facilitates illegal access to monetary resources of individuals and organizations. Remote theft with the use of electronic means of payment, digital data and devices tends to expand, become more complex and diversify. To counter this trend, criminal law alone is not enough; an active and uncompromising policy towards dropping and other similar actions by banks and the Central Bank of Russia is needed. The latency of the considered “hidden” crimes can be significantly reduced by analyzing digital traces using artificial intelligence based on the existing foreign experience. An analysis of the the rapid development of the segment of remote thefts committed with the use of digital data and means shows the necessity for preventive forecasting of the risks of introducing each new digital service.
