This paper deals with the issues of reorganization of the disabled homes of Bashkiria into labor boarding schools for the disabled of the Great Patriotic War. Referring to archival materials, the author shows the number of existing boarding schools for war invalids, vocational boarding schools, as well as homes for elderly members of military families in 1942–1951. Special attention is paid to the normative legal documents that contributed to the employment of war invalids. Detailed examples of practical activities carried out in the region for their labor training are provided. The paper briefly describes the life of war invalids in these institutions and characterizes the activities of the People’s Commissariat of Social Security, the People’s Commissariat of Health of the Bashkir ASSR to provide assistance to demobilized disabled soldiers. The existing problems in the service of war invalids are revealed. The author notes the advantages and disadvantages of the measures taken and the measures of social support for this category of the population of the republic, which were regularly discussed at the meetings of the bureau of the Bashkir Regional Committee of the CPSU, as well as the city and district committees of the party. The novelty of the research lies in the fact that for the first time archival materials about boarding schools for war invalids in Bashkiria and their activities in 1942–1951 are introduced into scientific circulation.
