The article examines the criminological characteristics of the crimes under Art. 110 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Driving to suicide). The use of this type of crime is due to the actualization of the problem of domestic violence. Despite the fact that driving to suicide is in itself a crime, suicides in the family remain even further beyond the line of possible timely prevention and constitute an additional layer of latent crime. The analysis of judicial statistics is carried out. The suicide rate on the territory of the Russian Federation was studied. The main reasons for driving a person to suicide have been established. A study of court decisions showed that in 87% of cases the victim and the guilty person were related. Driving to suicide, as a rule, is committed by men (92%), and their victims are close relatives living together and carrying out common economic activities (spouse / concubine, elderly parents, children). Among the most common reasons for driving to suicide are long-term conflict family situations, which lead to an awareness of the situation as hopeless. The reason for committing suicide is often the criminal, immoral behavior of the guilty person. So family conflicts are accompanied by physical and mental violence against the victim, often the violence lasts for years. The overwhelming majority (87%) of crimes in this group were committed in the course of family abuse and systematic humiliation of human dignity, 10% of suicide cases were committed under threats, mostly related to extortion of money and other material values.
