The article is a review of the dictionary of ancient philosophers, published by the French professor R. Goulet. Te author characterizes the specifics of the vocabulary, analyzes the principles of the construction of dictionary articles, and remarks a kind of the edition’s significance for studying the interaction of ancient and Christian thought. Te issue of “Christianized Epictetus” is briefly considered, which is an illustration of the influence of the ethics of Stoicism on some moments of Byzantine asceticism.
