Old Russian furniture as an object of research in the nineteenth century

Attribution of ancient Russian furniture has now become particularly relevant, because many dating require revision. The solution of this problem is possible by studying the history of cognition of this phenomenon, which began in the XIX century, when along with other a works of decorative art, ancient furniture was allocated to the zone of interests of museum workers, artists, historians, collectors, largely due to the growth of national consciousness and the formation of such an artistic phenomenon as the Russian style.
