Ancient objects of the river valley Tsagangol on Mongolian Altai (by materials of the expedition of I. G. Gran"o in 1909)

The paper analyzes the material of the archaeological sites of the Mongolian Altai collected Finnish geographer Johannes Gabriel Grane during field work in 1909 within the Altai mountain system, part of which was in the Russian Empire, and the other – the Qing Empire. These scientific studies were conducted with the support of the Finno-Ugric Society. Their main objective was to find epigraphs. During the trip, they especially stand out due to structural features of various archaeological sites, their location noted. I. G. Grane were made plans, drawings and photographs he discovered various archaeological sites. As a result of a focused study of archaeological sites of the Mongolian Altai that Finnish scientists have found and fixed a number of rare and unusual for the structure, stone mounds and fences. The research activities of the scientist was part of a general trend, characteristic of Finnish historical science XIX – early XX centuries. Whose members saw the Sayano-Altai as a historic ancestral home of the Finno-Ugric peoples. Collected I. G. Grane materials allow us to estimate the contribution of Finnish researchers in the study of archaeological sites in Mongolia.
