Te author of this article considers the historical consciousness of V. Bolotov, identifies the major Christian undercurrents of his professional methodology, and offers diverse examples of its realization. Te role of history as the “art of understanding” can be identified in the work of Bolotov in the dissonant field between the results of a scientific evaluation of empirical event data, the measure of common sense, and the religious and moral evaluation of reality by the researcher. In this way, the methodology of V. Bolotov is not diluted in abstract metaphysics, but also is not enclosed within the boundaries of polished and effective methodology.
