The history of treatment of varicose veins from antiquity till our time is considered. The periodization of approaches to surgery of varicose veins of the lower extremities is made. Three frames of reference which have consistently replaced each other of surgical community are allocated for a problem of varicose veins, its treatment and preventive of recurrent veins.
