Parkinson's disease is a chronic progressive brain disease caused by the degeneration of dopamine-containing pigment neurons of the substantia nigra and characterized by a violation of the function of the basal ganglia. As the results of numerous epidemiological studies show, the frequency of Parkinson's disease in the population increases steadily with age. So, in the age group up to 65 years, it is about 1%, from 65 to 75 years - 2% and, finally, in people over 75 years old, Parkinson's disease occurs with a frequency of 3-4%. It can be concluded that due to the global trend towards the gradual aging of the population, the relevance of this problem will constantly increase in the future.
