Shtundists’ movement and church and state policy in the Russian empire in the second part of the 19 century

The possibly of existence of shtundists’ sect in the orthodox Empire is considered. The state protected orthodoxy and followed the religions situation in the country. The dominating church supported the state power completely and didn’t let different oppositional to orthodoxy movements. Obviously Russian shtundism appeared under such circumstances. Arousing in the 60 th of the 19 th century the movement existed in the beginning of the 20 century. Hence, the church and state policy was out optimal.
